Opinion

In a recent prisoner exchange, two Russians returned to Russia who hadn't even told their own children that they were spies. No wonder the kids don't look too thrilled to be stepping onto Russian soil. Their parents spilled the beans just moments before the kids would be subjected to flashbulbs and international exposure.

It's a chilling tale, but that's how many spies work. For instance, a hostile spy posing as a professor might marry a young, gullible student to bolster their cover, never revealing their true identity to their duped lover-cum-wife.

Their cagey gambits have the potential to destroy lives and traumatize innocents but the spies don't seem to care.

Is this a definition of sociopathy or what?
