In the heat of the Upper Canada Rebellion, a pivotal clash unfolded at
Montgomery's Tavern. This historic tavern, once a bustling hub for travelers and locals, became the site of a fierce battle between government forces and rebel insurgents. The rebellion, sparked by political tensions and a desire for reform, erupted in December 1837. The outcome of this battle would shape the future of the region. The government won the battle and many rebels were imprisoned or executed.

For many years, the tavern was replaced by a Canada post office. More recently, it has become a licensed restaurant. And instead of evergreens, we see concrete and glass reaching for the sky.
