I won't say, "I told you so," but I have, and many times. Until a major publication like The Economist considers this viewpoint it will not be taken seriously. You can provide purely rational, common-sense arguments and still be ignored if the herd isn't ready to hear you.
In my case, I wrote a PhD not exactly on this topic but in the same area back in the 1990s. And I did a grad paper questioning the psychiatric 'wisdom' of the day from a cross-cultural, multidisciplinary perspective. Sadly, I ran up against a backward professor who made life difficult for me and I'm still paying the price for their dishonorable behavior.
Thinking about what's 'normal' is nothing new. But if a person is brainwashed by scientism or perhaps working for some creepy international racket, they probably won't be too willing to step outside of the box—not publicly, anyhow.
